Three years in. Still independent. Still free.
A quick note on keeping it that way
This newsletter started in the summer of 2022 with a simple question: what is the connection between the game I love and the crisis unfolding around it?
Over three years on, a lot has followed from that question. What began as a way of helping me and others make sense of a scattered landscape has become something I didn't anticipate - analysis that's been cited in Parliament, picked up by specialist media, and read by people inside the organisations being scrutinised.
And it's still free.
But it isn't free to produce. There's no funding from organisations - just my time. The research, the reading, the drafting (and, oh, the endless redrafting!) takes real time. And the independence that time brings, is what makes it worth anything. To be upfront, it's not something I can sustain indefinitely. That's why your support matters.
If the newsletter has been useful to you - if a post made you think differently, gave you something to share, or helped you make a case - I'd be grateful if you'd consider making a contribution.
You can do that here: ko-fi.com/footballandclimate
Any amount helps. And if now isn't the right time, the best thing you can do is share the newsletter with someone who should be reading it.
Either way, a big thanks for being here.
